Cassock of Precaution

Cassocks of Precaution are the distinctive garb members of the Wizard's Guild wear. This is a high quality black, magical robe with very distinctive markings that will normally be recognized on sight by almost anyone in the Archipelago.

Each weighs 2.5 pounds and provides a DR of 1 over the skull (when the hood is worn), torso, groin, arms and legs, due to it's thickness. It also functions as winter clothing. Both of these benefits are non-magical properties.

They provide the following Advantages:

  • Enhanced Defenses (All Blocks, Dodge and All Parries) 1
  • Resistant (Magic, Very Common) +3
  • Resistant (Metabolic Hazards, Very Common) +3
  • Once per day, the Cassock may produce a spell-like effect that exactly mimics the Shield spell. This can be triggered by wearing it and willing it to happen.

These items must be recharged via the Ritual of Renewal spell once a month, or they lose all of their magical properties. Members of the Wizard's Guild will either know this spell themselves, or will visit a guild office once a month to recharge them.

For exact rules on how this item functions, see the Ritual of Renewal page.
