Maze of the Minotaur

The PCs awaken to find themselves lying on a beach, with no clue how they got there. As they get up, they can see wreckage of a sailing ship in the bay that lies before them. Dark clouds and rain force them to seek shelter in a nearby village.

The villagers are friendly and helpful, tending to their injuries and feeding them a meal, as well as offering to put them up for the night.

Toward the beginning of the night, while the PCs are still weak, they're seized by parties unknown and roughly placed inside large burlap sacks.

After a short bit of struggling, they're dropped about six feet onto hard stone. Their captors call out, “Sorry! We don't like doing this, but if we don't, he'll eat us instead!”

They eventually free themselves, only to find that they've been sealed inside some kind of maze.

As they begin looking for a way out, they hear laughter and a booming voice, “Ah! It's been so long since I had live prey.”

Will the PCs be able to escape this cursed maze? Will they find their gear before the Minotaur finds them? Will the head start he gives them be any help at all?

Back Story

The PCs were on their way home from another adventure when a terrible storm ripped through the Archipelago with frightening ferocity. Just barely before the ship's crew was able to enter a safe harbor, the ship broke up, dropping everyone in the freezing water. The mixture of cold and various injuries has caused some mild memory loss.

The ship's crew are dead, drowned in the ocean depths. The PCs only survived due to some amazing luck (they're PCs and it's part of the plot), having washed up on shore.

Unfortunately for them, they're not on the island of Minos to trade. This makes them a target like nothing else ever would.

Due to a previous arrangement with the minotaur (“Feed me and I don't eat you!”) living in the maze-like tunnels under the island, the locals lock the PCs inside, without their gear.
