This is a variation on the classic Explosive Fireball that has a penchant for creating a great deal of battlefield chaos, as this can strike either friend or foe.
After each attack (successful or not), this spell will choose a random nearby target and then go after them. It can travel up to 10 yards a second and will keep doing this until it has attacked 8 times or traveled a total of 100 yards.
For some unknown reason, this spell has earned the nick-name “Bouncing Betty.” Exactly why is a matter of debate.
Casting this spell in confined quarters is usually referred to as “stupid.”
