Animate Dead

This spell animates a corpse, either as a zombie, skeleton or mummy, depending on whether or not the corpse has flesh and/or has been embalmed/dessicated. There is some intelligence remaining, but the resulting creature is little more than an automaton.

Making a zombie requires a relatively intact corpse (or parts of others stitched together, requiring a Surgery roll), a skeleton requires a complete skeleton (though not necessarily from the same corpse; a Physiology roll is required to properly assemble a complete skeleton from individual bones) and mummies require either embalming or dessication. At the GM's discretion, the resulting undead may have extra Disadvantages if pieces are missing. For example, a corpse missing an arm would get the One Arm Disadvantage.

Undead raised by this spell have the traits and non-mental skills the body had in life, in addition to the undead template. Also of note is the fact that the undead template takes precedence over anything that's already a part of the dead character. For example, if a goblin is turned into a zombie, it will fight to the death if ordered to, but if left to it's own devices, it will flee when the tide of the battle goes against it, since goblins have the Cowardice Disadvantage.

Note: You'll find that the value of the Zombie, Skeleton and Mummy templates in this wiki differ from what GURPS Magic says. This is intentional. First off, the book is wrong about the value of the zombie and skeleton templates. The Automaton Meta-Trait includes Slave Mentality, but the undead templates do as well, so it's on them twice (perhaps a later printing is actually correct?). In addition, I've made small customizations to the templates, but they're still very close to what's in Magic. Finally, I've changed the rarity of Mana to Very Common, which affects the value of their Dependency on it.
