Notes

Shadow of the Ruin was once a more typical Druid, worshipping life in all it's aspects.

Ten years ago, a terrible blight came upon his homeland, transforming it into a desert. He saw so many of the animals and plants waste away, but was helplessly unable to save them. The villages became a collection of ghost towns as the wells dried up.

For several years, he was heart-broken, feeling as though the land itself betrayed him. Eventually, he realized that death is as much part of the cycle of life as birth.

He now reverences death as he once reverenced life and seeks to maintain the cycle of life and death. He now celebrates the change of his homeland to a nearly lifeless waste, as it opened his mind to new ways of thinking.

With this change of thinking, he took a new name: Shadow of Ruin. This reminds him of what he once was and what he's become.

He still cares about nature and seeks to protect it, but he now reverences the entire cycle of life. He would protect a desert from destruction the same as a forest, but he won't intervene to prevent a forest from becoming a desert or vice-versa, so long as it's natural.

This has brought him into conflict with many of his Druid brethren, often leaving him with bitter feelings toward them for their "closed-mindedness."
